Mike Clemente | Director of Bands
MIKE CLEMENTE is in his twelfth year of teaching and his sixth year as the Director of Bands at Winter Park High School in Winter Park, FL. Previously, he served as the Associate Director of Bands at Winter Park High School from 2013 - 2019. Mr. Clemente directs the Wind Symphony, Jazz Ensemble I, co-directs the Freshman Concert Band and the "Sound of the Wildcats" Marching Band, and assists with the Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble II, and Freshman Jazz Band. Ensembles under Mr. Clemente’s direction have consistently received Superior ratings at Florida Bandmasters Association Music Performance Assessments. This year, the band is excited to travel to Chicago, IL to perform in the world-renowned Orchestra Hall at Symphony Center. Under Mr. Clemente’s direction, ensembles from WPHS have performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, NY, Walt Disney Music Hall in Los Angeles, CA, the Southern Region CBDNA/NBA Conference in Tampa, FL, the Florida Music Education Association Conference in Tampa, FL, the Music for All Southern Regional Festival in Atlanta, GA, the UCF/Orlando Music for All Concert Band Festival, and both Disneyland in Anaheim, CA and Disney World in Orlando, FL.
Prior to his appointment at Winter Park, Mr. Clemente earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Michigan State University. A trumpet player, Mr. Clemente performed with various ensembles both at MSU and in the Lansing, MI, area including the MSU Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, Trumpet Ensemble, and the Capitol City Brass Band. He also performed for five years in the Michigan State University Spartan Marching Band, where he served as trumpet section leader and band Vice President.
From 2008-2010, Mr. Clemente served on the Instructional Staff at Smith Walbridge Clinics in Charleston, IL, one of the oldest and most recognized drum major clinics in the country. Mr. Clemente is also an alumnus of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. He toured as a lead trumpet player with the Regiment during the summers of 2011 and 2012, performing in multiple stadiums and cities across the country.
Mr. Clemente is an active member of the Florida Bandmasters Association and Florida Music Education Association. Currently, he serves as the District Chair of FBA District 8 and is thankful to have the opportunity to serve his colleagues in Orange County and the State of Florida. Mr. Clemente also serves as the coordinator of the Orange County Public Schools All-County 9/10 Concert Band. In his spare time, Mr. Clemente enjoys spending time with his wife Sarah, son Connor, and their beloved dog Sheila and cat Byron.

Ashley Deane | Associate Director of Bands
Ashley Deane (she/her) is a bass clarinetist, conductor, and educator from Fayetteville, AR. Deane received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Arkansas before continuing on to teach in the Northwest Arkansas area. She completed her Master of Music Performance degree in Instrumental Conducting at Florida State University in the spring of 2024. While there she studied with Dr. Patrick Dunnigan and Dr. Rodney Dorsey. During her time at FSU, she served as a graduate teaching and conducting assistant where she had the honors of working with a variety of collegiate ensembles including the "World-Renowned Marching Chiefs" and aiding in the training of the next generation of music educators. She is a proud sister of Sigma Alpha Iota, an honorary member of the Alpha Omega chapter of Tau Beta Sigma, and a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Honor Society.
She is currently in her eighth year of teaching, with the '24-'25 school year being her first year at Winter Park High School. At WPHS she directs the Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble II, and Freshman Jazz Ensemble, co-directs the Freshman Concert Band and the "Sound of the Wildcats" Marching Band, and assists with the Wind Symphony and Jazz Ensemble I. In her abundant spare time, she enjoys paddle boarding, crocheting, and spending time with her husband Ian and their two dogs, Miley and Pancho.
